Twitter CPL 2.0

I find twitter kind of weird, like coming in on the middle of a conversation.
  • Love the xianity site - crazy funny stuff there.
  • News sites - Either I need more info to understand what they are talking about, or I need it presented by someone without ADHD.
  • CPL teen twitter links - The Zombie Research Society brings out my inner geek, and I have learned that hitting Superman with a red light saber is akin to hitting a human with a wet noodle.

The CPL tweets are perfect. I can scan down the list to see what's happening, then open the one I am interested in. This cuts down on the info overload that I have been complaining about from the other sites that we have visited during these exercises.

Library Thing CPL 2.0

Practical uses at work:
  • finding book reviews for customers
  • separating moldy oldies from classics in the making
Practical uses at home:
  • keep track of my voracious reading list
  • find recommendations

Chances are I won't sign up for it. I already have trouble taking too many books with me when I finish my shift. I also find the site to be too busy. I wish designers consider putting more white space on their pages to make the pages more readable.

On Line Productivity Tools CPL 2.0

I checked out Google docs and tried it out. It behaves like Microsoft, ergo I can see it becoming more popular simply because you don't have to pay for it. But there will always be hackers, and I am sure they are working hard on getting into online documents. The calendar looks good too.

Chances are I won't use this product. I'm still ingrained in the past - paper, pens, writing on my WWF calendar (this month is Japanese Macaques in a natural spa), and my yellowberry (sticky notes with names and phone numbers).

Pros:
  • work from any computer
  • Share to whatever extent I feel comfortable

Cons:
  • Every time I clicked to go to a new page, I was in a new window. When I logged out, I had several windows to sign out of
  • I am not comfortable sharing too much

Flickr & YouTube CPL 2.0

Flickr: interesting, could be useful, seems pretty straight forward. Maybe this will help me shed a few pounds before the Christmas card season.

YouTube: a lot of fun, but a real time waster

Here is my fave:

RSS Feeds CPL 2.0

I like RSS feeds.

I signed up on my account two weeks ago and when I looked in today, poof there were more postings about things I actually wanted to read about. For example, I think may want to check out A Librarian's Guide to Ettiquette on a regular basis. I also quite enjoy PostSecret (not that I have anything on there!!).

The only thing we noticed is that you must sign out or the next time it will open in your account.
